We're hiring at Lilla Barn

Lilla Barn is a women-owned, mom-led studio and shop on Clark Street, and we're growing. I'm looking for two people to help take care of it with me. Both roles are flexible, part-time, and on-site in Andersonville.

Part-Time Shop Associate

The shop is where people see our work in person. They touch the fabric, ask who made the earrings, or need help with the right sizing. I want whoever greets them to make that moment feel easy and kind, and to know our pieces so well that people leave feeling like they talked with an expert.

What you'd do

  • Open and run the shop during our public hours, on weekdays and weekends
  • Strike up conversations with everyone who walks in and help them find what they're looking for (or what they didn't know they needed, like a pickle hair clip)
  • Ring up sales on our register. I'll teach you everything
  • Keep the space clean, tidy, and inviting: sweeping, folding, refreshing displays
  • Work through a simple daily and weekly task list on your own
  • Learn our products inside and out, from fabric and fit to care and the story behind each piece, so customers trust you as the expert

Who I'm hoping to find

  • Someone reliable who shows up and follows through, even when no one's watching
  • Someone who loves starting conversations, with anyone and everyone, but can also give customers space if they want it.
  • Comfortable with tech. No register experience needed
  • Some weekday and weekend availability
  • A quick study who soaks up product details and remembers them, and is curious about slow fashion, small makers, and the community we've built here

The details

  • Flexible, part-time schedule, 4 to 10 hours per week, with the possibility of more
  • Shifts during shop hours: Thursday and Friday 1 to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 5pm. You could work as little as one day a week, and you likely won't be scheduled all four days
  • Pay starts at $18/hour
  • On-site at 5535 N. Clark Street, Andersonville, Chicago

Shop Fulfillment Associate

For a lot of people, opening one of our boxes is the first time they hold our work. I want it to arrive exactly right: the right size, the right color, folded neatly and packed with care, the way it would feel if they'd picked it out in the shop themselves.

What you'd do

  • Pick orders from our inventory
  • Check every order carefully so the right items and quantities go in, every time
  • Pack each order neatly, following our packing instructions. I'll show you exactly how
  • Pack up and seal the boxes, then print the packing slips and shipping labels
  • Bring packages to the post office
  • Keep the packing area tidy and ready for the next batch

Who I'm hoping to find

  • Someone reliable who shows up and follows through
  • A careful, detail-loving person who double-checks without being asked
  • Someone who takes pride in a neatly packed box
  • Comfortable with tech. No shipping experience needed
  • Able to carry boxes and get packages to the post office
  • Flexible with your time, since hours shift with how many orders come in

The details

  • Flexible, part-time schedule. Hours vary based on order volume
  • Pay starts at $18/hour
  • On-site at 5535 N. Clark Street, Andersonville, Chicago, with trips to the post office
